Balsamic Strawberry and Parma Ham Crostinis

Ingredients:

For the crostinis:

1 white baguette
Olive oil, to drizzle

For the topping:

150g strawberries
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon caster sugar
Freshly ground black pepper
75g cream cheese
75g Parma ham
A few chives to garnish

Method:

1. Wipe the strawberries clean before removing the hulls, then cut into thick slices. Place them in a small bowl. Sprinkle balsamic vinegar and sugar over the strawberries. Allow to marinate for one hour at room temperature, then season with black pepper.

2. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

3. Cut the baguette into thin slices. Arrange them on a baking sheet.

4. Drizzle the slices with the olive oil and place in the oven for 15 minutes, turning once halfway through, until they are crisp and golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

5. Arrange the crostinis on a large serving plate. Top each with a little cream cheese and a slice of Parma ham.

6. Place a marinated strawberry slice on top and garnish with chives.
